Stunning display of hockey trivia

Hockey Day In Canada

This is a special edition of the show for Hockey Day In Canada. Since we had Liam Maguire join us, we focused on lots of trivia. I promise, you’ll be amazed by the awesome questions that came in and Liam’s insane trivia skill.

For example, do you know the answer to this question off the top of your head?:

“41 NHL players have scored over 500 goals in their career. One unlucky goal tender has had the distinct honor of having given up not two but three 500 goals. Who is that goalie AND who are the three players that scored their 500th goal on him?”

Impossible question! Watch the show to see if Liam has the right answer and see some of the other impossible questions thrown at him.

Fighting in Hockey, Shootouts and More

Also check out what the boys think about fighting as well as shoot outs and find out who the Nasty Dummy of the week is. Sometimes the Rokpig and Liam agree and sometimes they don’t.

If you like the show, please tell your friends!

Cheers,

Allan & Rokpig

Upcoming Hockey Day in Canada show

the sensquatch waves the sens flag

the sensquatch waves the sens flag

G’day folks,

Next Show Taping: Feb 21 at about 5:30

After a short hiatus, we’ll be back at Philthy McNasty’s in Kanata on Feb 21 to shoot a very special show with our guest, Liam Maguire. We’ll be starting as soon as the Sens game is done (around 5:30) so come on out and join us for the last period. If you put in a comment on the blog (trivia question or something you want us to talk about), we’ll buy you a beer … it is that simple.

Hockey Day in Canada

The show is a special one as it will be celebrating Hockey Day in Canada. This event was first broadcast by the CBC in mid-Feb. 2000. The idea was quite simple. Set aside one day where all 6 Canadian teams play against each other. The brass at CBC also decided it would be a good PR move if they could connect with the community. Obviously not the same folks who decided it was too costly to keep the “Hockey Night In Canada” song…again, I digress. Anyway, the connection would be that if you could prove you had the biggest hockey heart of any other community in Canada the CBC would give you some cash…as well, the whole day would be broadcast from there….Excellent idea!!!

So here we are entering our 8th Hockey Day in Canada…this is quickly growing into another branch of the Canadian Hockey Family Tree!! You gotta love it!!! Ummm…for those of you that are good in math and can’t understand why we are only going into our 8th HDIC it’s because 2005 was canceled due to the player’s lockout.

So anyway, this is a full day of showing grass-roots hockey…pond-hockey…street hockey…current members of the hockey hall-of-fame, etc. All in the spirit of Canadian’s enjoying hockey! Don Cherry and Ron MacLean have a full schedule as they meet the fans and find out what makes their hockey minds click. This year the winning community is Campbellton, New Brunswick and that’s where Ron and Don will be on Feb 21st.

This year’s line-up will be a must-see as the 6 Canadian teams will face-off against each other. Ottawa will be in Montreal; Vancouver will be in Toronto; and Calgary will visit Edmonton (always a great game!!!!) Of course there are other games involved that day…13 games in all that will begin at 1:00pm with Pittsburgh in Philadelphia (a Pennsylvania must-see) and finishing with the classic Calgary vs Edmonton at 10:00pm. Oh yeah…and my Bruins will be busting into Florida to beat the crap out of the Panthers at 7:00pm.

Hope to see you at Philthy’s…there will be prizes all day and tons of hockey to keep you energized!!! Don’t forget, leave us a comment (questions, topics to discuss …)( and you get a beer (if you show up of course).

Special Show: IIHF World Junior Hockey Championships and Hockey Volunteer

On Friday, Jan 2, we shot a special episode of the Nasty Hockey Show. We covered the World Junior Championships with Liam Maguire and a special interview with Adam Sherlip whose mission is to travel to remote parts of the world and share the joy and virtues of hockey (selflessness, teamwork, loyalty, honesty …).

Adam is an amazing individual having worked with the Islanders on the Project Hope initiative and is now on his own. He is heading to the Kashmir region of India on Jan 12 and he needs our financial help. Not only is he teaching kids about hockey but he is also going to help the village, teach children English and more. I’m convinced all involved will remember this forever. He is still short of money and needs our help. Check out our audio interview with him (third segment of the show) and check out his website (http://hockeyvolunteer.blogspot.com/). Please be generous and help him out financially. It is very easy. To sweeten the pot, I’ll match your contributions up to a total of $200. Just leave a comment on this blog with what you have donated.

The Rokpig and I hope you enjoy the show.

episode 3 dec 6 show: road trip and fun people

Hey everyone,

We had an absolute blast doing the nasty show on December 6th. We took the shuttle to the game and met lots of passionate and funny people. We hung out in the Philthy McNasty box and met more great fans and even got a bit of footage there (oops. not sure if I was allowed). The sens played awesome, they won and we headed back to Philthy’s to chat with some fans and punish he dummy. All in all, a fantastic day for everyone.

Don’t forget to register to our blog (just look over to the top right and click on “suscribe to nasty hockey show by email” ) and you’ll get a notice when the video is posted as well as any future events.

next show: Dec 6th @ about 5pm

Hey everyone,

which one's the dummy?

which one's the dummy?

We’ve been on a bit of a hiatus due to vacations and sens performance depression but the prozac is kicking in and we’re back at it this Saturday, Dec 6th. We’re doing things a bit differently for this week. The RokPig and I are taking the shuttle to the game and hanging out in the Philthy McNasty private box for the game (might some tix left if you want to join us and hang with the cool people).

We’ll be filming in the shuttle on the way there and back and then doing our show at Philthy’s after the game. We might even get lucky and have the Sensquatch join us for the trip. As always, we’ll be punishing the Nasty Dummy at the end of the show so come out and see who the dummy is this week and what we’re doing to him (feel free to leave us suggestions in the comments).

I hope you can join us. Lastly, don’t forget to leave some questions and comments or the Rokpig and his secret Nasty Girl to read on air. If you give us something to share on air and show up for the show, I’ll buy you a beer. Heck of a deal I think!

Episode 2-Oct 24: Liam shows off and more

This is episode 2 of the Nasty Hockey Show shot on October 24, 2008 at Philthy McNasty’s in Kanata, Ontario.

We walk and chat with interesting people, get Liam Maguire to answer emails and amaze the crowd with hockey trivia (seriously, Liam is unbelievable). We also punish this week’s dummy, Sean Avery with slapshots.

Episode 2: Liam Maguire amazes the crowd

Episode 2 … I must admit is really good. As always, we start off with the walkabout and hear directly from fans. I love that part because that’s the essence of the show … to give fans a voice. We were also extremely fortunate to have Liam Maguire join us during the second segment. He just blows everyone away with the hockey trivia. It is truly stunning … you gotta check it out. And finally, we punish the dummy. This week it was Sean Avery for his big mouth but no guts. We took slapshots at him and gave away goodies.
